Flawless – Beauty Specialized is Hong Kong’s newest and chicest city spa, located in the heart of Central on Wyndham Street. As the name suggests, Flawless – Beauty Specialized is a little different to many of the other spas and salons in Hong Kong as it focuses on three key beauty essentials – facials, makeup and nails, to keep things simple and to ensure that you receive top quality treatments from their friendly, attentive and highly trained staff. That’s not to say that the treatment list is dull, far from it! There is a wealth of options to choose from for both women and using products including Medik8, Aromatherapy Associates and Algotherm.
Stepping out of the lift straight into the light monochrome interior, it’s striking how bright and welcoming the space is, with the added benefit of a large outdoor terrace to relax after a treatment and watch the world below. It feels more like a boutique hotel than a spa, but all the spa touches are there – from the gorgeous bathrobes to the sumptuous beds, the feeling of luxury is ever present. The black and white interior with bright pink door at the centre and welcoming brown leather sofas are a refreshing change from many of the other spas in Hong Kong and it certainly lives up to its urban chic description.
I was lucky enough to have try Flawless for myself and enjoyed a shellac manicure and a complexion revolution facial. The manicure was indulgent and relaxing, and my therapist, Ling, really took her time to ensure that the finish was perfect. My hands were transformed from looking tired, with uneven nails and left over nail varnish, to feeling and looking refreshed and groomed. Shellac is an ideal option for those of us whose hands work hard either with children or at a computer, and my nails are looking great even a week later – totally chip free! Flawless also use OPI polish for those who don’t want Shellac and they have a wide range of colours for every taste.
Next came the facial (and added back massage – lucky me!). We all know that Hong Kong can be cruel on the skin. The pollution, excess air conditioning and extreme climate is not kind to the face and I also suffer with pigmentation issues and dark spots on my otherwise very pale skin, which I’m told can happen after having children – no one ever told me about that side effect! My therapist for the facial, Hom, really took her time to explain what she thought would be the right treatment for my skin, taking into account the issues with pigmentation and generally looking a bit tired. She suggested the Complexion Revolution Treatment using Algotherm products.
The treatment rooms are white with soft lighting and I was delighted that there was a distinct lack of whale music in the background. The supremely comfortable bed with luxurious duvet meant that after about 10 minutes of a back massage, I was fighting to stay awake – not sure if I won that battle in the end! Following the massage, the hour long facial involved cleansing, exfoliating, massage and mask, which Hom executed with great care to ensure that I was relaxed, but also understood what she was doing every step of the way. She used hot towels between each different stage of the facial so my skin also benefitted from a very deep clean. Afterwards I looked refreshed with smoother and brighter skin, and she also took the time to advise about dealing with the pesky issue of pigmentation which is exacerbated by the summer months in Hong Kong.
In addition to their fabulous range of beauty treatments, Flawless is also the available as a venue for a party, hen do or baby shower. They have packages that include bubbly and food so it’s an ideal way to spend time with some friends and indulge.
Flawless is the spa to visit when you want to be indulged and spoilt and the prices reflect that with facials starting from $980 and manicures from $250. However the quality of the service is very high and it does feel like value for money.
