What is The World’s Big Sleep Out?

The World’s Big Sleep Out will see people in their own backyards and iconic locations across the globe, sleep out in unison to create the world’s largest display of solidarity and support for those experiencing homelessness and displacement.

Organisers hope up to 50,000 people worldwide will join the sleep out and together raise funds to help 1,000,000 homeless and displaced people.

Hong Kong’s Sleep Out event

Hong Kong’s Big Sleep Out will take place at the Central Harbourfront Event Space on 7 December. This unique opportunity to sleep amidst Hong Kong’s iconic harbour skyline costs $20USD per participant, and 100% of funds raised go to help homeless people. 50% will be passed to international charities and 50% to Hong Kong’s own ImpactHK.

Who are ImpactHK

Local charity ImpactHK takes a holistic approach to support homeless people in Hong Kong and is committed to helping them gain independence and homes of their own. The Guest Room in Tai Kok Tsui is a drop-in centre where homeless people can wash clothes, get haircuts, relax and help themselves to food from the community fridge. ImpactHK’s kindness walks distribute necessities including food, drink, toiletries and clothing while building friendship and trust and giving volunteer helpers a meaningful experience. The charity also supports homeless people through mentoring, nutrition guidance, finding employment and accessing housing.

ImpactHK’s founder Jeff Rotmeyer says of Hong Kong’s Big Sleep Out, “please sign up and join this meaningful night. It will 100% result in more lives being saved. We have an opportunity to save hundreds of individuals off the streets in 2020. We need your support!”
