Le French May Arts Festival 2018
Le French May just announced their 2018 highlighted programs this past week and we're beginning to get excited for this year's festival.
Stepping into it’s 26th year, Le French May has become a mainstay on the Hong Kong festival scene. The 2018 schedule will include a series of exciting programs under the theme “Tributes” and will explore the timeless masterpieces reinterpreted by modern talents.
The Festival will unveil with a highlighted exhibition School of Nice – From Pop Art to Happenings, designed by the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nice. This exhibition pays tribute to the Centre Pompidou’s inaugural exhibition in 1977 as well as those artists who pioneered the French and International Pop Art movement such as Yves Klein, Cesar, Martial Raysse, Arman and more.
Being a platform for cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and France, the Festival will also present a contemporary dance adapted from the mystical world of a Chinese novel – The Painting on the Wall, as well as a world premier of a classical piano performance with live sand-painting The Butterfly Lovers, one of China’s Four Great Folktales.
The festival has also curated a series of special events to reach audiences all over Hong Kong. The first edition of Make Music, Hong Kong will bring the city a three-day music festival featuring talented local and European artist with a wide range of music genres from classical to jazz, pop to electro.
