Review of LBK, Quarry Bay. A relaxed eatery perfect for a working lunch.

Lobsters, Burgers and Kebabs at LBK Quarry Bay

Quarry Bay is bustling with new restaurants and bars and is set to become one of the city’s dining hot spots. We headed over recently for lunch at the area’s newest addition, LBK, to try their signature lobsters, burgers and kebabs.

The venue is compact with strikingly graffitied walls, a small open bar and seating for around 30.

LBK offers a set lunch menu encompassing lobster burgers, lobster sandwiches and whole roasted Boston lobster served with salad, prime Australian black Angus beef burgers and doner-style chicken and beef kebabs. All dishes come with fresh green salad, fries and sides such as turmeric rice.

Other menu options include main course salads such as  quinoa, Caesar, grilled halloumi and sides such as hummus and falafel.

As a non seafood eater, I can’t comment on the lobster burgers, so I made up for it by trying the rest of the menu!

With a strong Turkish influence on the menu, I was delighted to see that it’s possible to combine two of my favourite ingredients; halloumi and falafal, into one dish (HK$65). The pitta filled with salty halloumi and well made falafel served with crunchy lettuce was very tasty. The chips on the side made it slightly heavy, but they were still incredibly moreish.

The juicy burger using prime Angus beef (HK$85), served with a crisp and refreshing salad and crispy fries was well cooked, simply presented and very tasty. It was good to see an interesting and colourful side salad incorporating grated carrot and red cabbage to compliment the burger.

For a healthy option, try the quinoa and avocado salad (HK$55). Although our salad was slightly on the salty side, it’s full of  ingredients that will make you feel that you’ve made a virtuous meal choice! Packed with avocodo, crunchy pomegranate seeds, quinoa, toasted pine nuts and lettuce, it’s the perfect dish to get you through a busy afternoon.

LBK founders Nevcivan Sahin and Mei Tong have created a restaurant with a limited but on point menu. Keeping it simple, and focusing on good quality ingredients, LBK gives diners what they want – fresh, tasty and fulfilling dishes that really hit the spot.
