Commissary has a southern Californian feel, meaning chilled out and nothing too fancy, so it’s only fitting they should offer a Christmas Eve buffet dinner. Choose from more than 20 dishes ranging from slow-smoked pork shoulder to baked yams with maple and chilli butter, plus free flow drinks. On December 25, put down the tongs and sit down to a share menu featuring good, ol´comfort food like shrimp and grits, roast turkey with the usual fixings, and build-your-own pulled BBQ pork and soft shell crab tacos.

Most British expats in the city know The Globe, as it’s their go-to for the quintessential UK pub experience in Hong Kong, with food to match (pies, fish and chips, the usual). Christmas is no exception, with options available for lunch and dinner like the roast Kelly Bronze turkey breast served with all the things mum makes back home (roast potatoes, carrots, Brussels sprouts, cranberry relish, chestnut and bread sauce), or grilled British Ashdale beef ribeye. BEDU wants to give you a not-so-typical Christmas this year, in the form of a Middle Eastern spread. The Bedouin-inspired restaurant does Middle Eastern food with a modern twist, perfect for sharing. There’ll be no Brussels sprouts or turkey legs, rather eggplant fattoush with pomegranate dressing and crispy chickpeas, and a selection of signature dips and flatbread. Lamb kibbeh, a minced leg of lamb accompanied by a pine nut and cranberry salad, and a slow-baked salmon walnut tarator served with tahini yoghurt are the stars of the meal, along with a lemon and pistachio clafoutis to end the evening.

This is where you go for a laid-back brunch with good vibes and even better cocktails. Christmas in Brazil comes with caipirinhas, and at Uma Nota’s “Brunch da Rua” they’re free flow! Then there’s flavoursome bites such as pasteis de carne seca, and sea bass in banana leaf or grilled flank steak for the main.
