HKIA received major international recognition at the World Travel Awards 2025, announced during a gala ceremony held in Bahrain on 6 December. Hong Kong International Airport won the title of World’s Leading Airport for Customer Experience 2025, a category that highlights airports delivering exceptional service quality, smooth passenger journeys and consistently high satisfaction levels.

The contenders included Auckland Airport (New Zealand), Cancun International Airport (Mexico), Changi Airport (Singapore), Dubai International Airport (UAE), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (USA), iGA Istanbul Airport (Türkiye), Muscat International Airport (Oman), Sangster International Airport (Jamaica), Sydney Airport (Australia), Velana International Airport (Maldives) and Zayed International Airport (Abu Dhabi, UAE).

In addition to this global honour, Hong Kong International Airport was also awarded Asia’s Leading Airport 2025 and China’s Leading Airport 2025, reinforcing its status as a leading aviation hub in the region.

Hong Kong’s flag carrier, Cathay Pacific, was also recognised at the event, receiving the title of Asia’s Leading Airline – Economy Class 2025.

The overall title of World’s Leading Airport 2025 was awarded to Dubai International Airport. Key nominees for this category included some of the world’s most prominent international gateways such as Singapore Changi Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and iGA Istanbul Airport, reflecting intense competition among the globe’s highest-traffic airports.

Founded in 1993, the World Travel Awards highlights outstanding achievements in global travel, tourism and hospitality each year. Candidates are selected through industry input, past recognitions and formal submissions. Winners are decided through online voting open to professionals and consumers, with votes from verified industry members contributing more strongly to the final outcome.
