The Index evaluates 100 major cities using more than 50 indicators that measure tourism performance, infrastructure, economic activity, sustainability, health and safety and overall policy environment. The aim is to assess both the scale of visitor demand and how effectively cities manage long-term development in a changing tourism landscape.
In Euromonitor’s definition, a visitor is anyone spending at least a day and up to a year in a city outside their home country, whether staying in paid or unpaid accommodation.
More recently, Hong Kong has also been named one of the Top 20 Best Cities to Live in 2026, recognised for its diversity, safety and cultural appeal, strengthening its standing as a place to live, visit and invest.
