The Well-wishing Festival will return to Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, from 17 February to 3 March 2026, marking one of the most traditional and widely loved events of the Chinese New Year period in Hong Kong.
Held annually at Lam Tsuen Wishing Square, the festival attracts hundreds of locals and visitors. Rooted in long-standing folk traditions, the festival is best known for its iconic wishing rituals. Visitors can write personal wishes for health, happiness, and success on colourful placards before tossing them onto the famous wishing tree, a practice believed to bring good fortune for the year ahead.
The atmosphere is festive yet family-friendly, with stalls, decorations, and a steady flow of visitors throughout the day. The event runs daily, opening from 9am to 7pm on 17 February and from 23 February to 3 March, with extended evening hours from 9am to 9pm between 18 and 22 February, allowing visitors to experience the lantern displays after dark.
Admission is free, and the festival remains a key part of Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year calendar, blending heritage, community spirit, and seasonal celebration in a single setting.
