Jean-Claude Van Damme will hold a two-day painting vernissage in Hong Kong on March 6 and 7. It will take place at the University Museum and Art Gallery at the University of Hong Kong.
The event will feature 12 paintings, giving visitors a chance to view the collection in person. Some works will also be available to buy, making it a rare public art appearance connected to the actor. A portion of the auction proceeds will go to charitable projects selected personally by Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Van Damme is best known for action and martial arts films. His breakout role in Bloodsport included scenes filmed in Hong Kong and featured Bolo Yeung. The film is often remembered locally for the famous split scene set against Hong Kong’s skyline. He later starred in major action titles such as Kickboxer and Universal Soldier, which helped shape his on-screen image through the late 1980s and 1990s.
This Hong Kong event shifts the focus from film to visual art. With only 12 paintings included, the showcase is expected to be small and focused, highlighting a more personal side of his creative work.
