The Merry Balloon Festival has been spreading festive colour across Hong Kong since December 16, bringing together large-scale inflatables, family attractions and nightly light displays.

A new addition to the festival, the Merry Balloon Light Show will now transform the exterior façade of the Hong Kong Space Museum into a giant animated canvas from December 23 to January 11.

Held nightly from 8.30pm to 10pm, except December 24 and 31, the free and continuous show features projections of 15 well-known IP characters across the museum’s dome, creating a unique festive spectacle in front of The Peninsula Hong Kong, whose façade is illuminated with festive decorations by Chanel.

The projections feature well-known IP characters including SpongeBob, The Little Prince, Garfield, and other popular cartoon and storybook figures, brought to life in festive and winter-themed scenes across the museum’s dome.

Merry Ballon continues at the West Kowloon Cultural District, where the Merry Balloon Park runs until January 11. The inflatable attraction features a Giant Bouncy Zone, including an inverted balloon world, an 80-metre-wide bouncy area, a seven-metre-tall slide and a 40-metre inflatable track designed for visitors of all ages.

The programme will also include Hong Kong’s first giant IP character balloon parade on December 28, when nearly 20 large balloons travel along the waterfront above Victoria Harbour, marking one of the festival’s key highlights.
