Hong Kong will welcome its first official THE GUNDAM BASE flagship store on December 20, 2025, with the opening of a new dedicated Gundam retail and exhibition space at The Twins Tower II in Kai Tak. Operated by Bandai Namco Asia, the store marks the brand’s first permanent flagship presence in the city, following similar launches across Japan, South Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Spanning nearly 4,500 square feet, the Kai Tak location combines retail, exhibition, and interactive areas, positioning itself as a new destination for Gundam collectors and fans in Hong Kong.
A New Gundam Hub in East Kowloon
Located at Shop 803 on the 8th floor of Tower II at The Twins, the flagship store features a wide range of Gundam model kits, themed collectibles, and brand-exclusive items. More than 100 Gundam models will be available, including several THE GUNDAM BASE limited editions previously released as part of the POP-UP WORLD TOUR.
Beyond retail, the space includes exhibition zones that trace the evolution of the Mobile Suit Gundam series since its debut in 1979. Diorama displays integrate Gundam scenes with recognisable Hong Kong landmarks, creating a localised visual narrative that connects the franchise with the city’s urban identity.
World-Exclusive Gundam Statues on Display
A major highlight of the opening is a world-exclusive 1:2 scale bust statue of the main protagonist’s mobile suit from Mobile Fighter G Gundam.
Including its base, the installation stands approximately eight metres tall and has been custom-designed for the Hong Kong flagship. The statue is accompanied by a 1.8-metre RX-78-2 Gundam figure in special THE GUNDAM BASE colours, offering visitors multiple photo points inside the store.
Interactive Zones and Model-Building Activities
The flagship also features a factory-themed interactive zone inspired by Bandai’s model production process, complete with visual elements referencing real assembly lines.
An event space within the store will host regular model-building workshops led by experienced instructors, with sessions aimed at both beginners and experienced builders.
Entry Arrangements During the Opening Phase
To manage visitor flow during the initial opening period, entry to THE GUNDAM BASE Hong Kong will be controlled through a pre-registration ballot system. Registration will be conducted via the The Twins Rewards mobile app on a first-come, first-served basis
Each registered member may reserve one one-hour entry slot per day. The ballot arrangement will remain in place until further notice.
