CCW Global Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) has announced another exciting programme for its upcoming season. A rare reunion of three internationally acclaimed Baroque specialists, Trevor Pinnock, Emmanuel Pahud and Jonathan Manson will come together for one night on March 16, 2026 at Hong Kong City Hall and offer audiences a chance to experience the depth, refinement and expressive brilliance of Bach in the hands of musicians who have shaped global Baroque performance for decades.

The 54th HKAF is set to return in February and March 2026 with more than 1,100 artists across over 170 performances, bringing world-class artistry to Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong debut of Grammy-winning American ensemble Imani Winds.

Meet the Baroque Masters

This distinguished trio unites three of the most respected figures in historical performance, famous for their long-standing musical partnership and mastery of Baroque repertoire.

Trevor Pinnock — Harpsichordist

Trevor Pinnock is an internationally celebrated harpsichordist and conductor. Founder of The English Concert, he has shaped global appreciation of Baroque and Classical music for more than five decades. His discography of over 100 recordings remains a reference for musicians and scholars alike.

Emmanuel Pahud — Flautist

Emmanuel Pahud, Principal Flute of the Berliner Philharmoniker, is one of today’s most influential flautists. Classically trained at the Conservatoire de Paris, he is admired for his stylistic versatility, including Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary works.

Jonathan Manson — Cellist

Jonathan Manson is a leading cellist and viola da gamba specialist whose career spans early to Romantic music. Former principal cellist of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and a founding member of the award-winning Phantasm consort, he has performed over 150 Bach cantatas and collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma.

What to expect at the concert?

On March 16, expect a beautiful evening with the trio performing three of Bach’s most celebrated sonatas, cornerstones of 18th-century flute repertoire that highlight the exquisite interplay between flute, harpsichord and cello.

Each musician will also take the spotlight in a solo work: Trevor Pinnock performs Bach’s monumental Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor; Emmanuel Pahud presents Telemann’s Fantasia No. 10 for solo flute; and Jonathan Manson offers a moment of introspection with Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1.
