Looking for a way to have a day out with the family and beat the summer heat? Head to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum, which is holding its annual Pacific Basin Free Family Fun Day on June 23 to commemorate the Day of the Seafarer. During the day-long event, visitors will have free access to a variety of events and games to learn more about Hong Kong’s maritime industry and history, such as docent tours, game booths, screenings of marine movies, self-portrait workshop, storytelling, and treasure hunt worksheets for children.

The ‘Simulator Experience’ will be the highlight of the day, as visitors can steer a variety of ships, such as a container barge, high-speed boat, or even the Star Ferry. Another main attraction will be ‘Explore the Marine World with the Robot’, during which participants will embark on an adventure to meet marine wildlife and explore their habitats. During the 15-minute sessions, they will also learn fundamental principles of coding. While there is no registration required for these events, spaces are limited and entry will be allowed on a first-come-first-served basis.
