The second “Happy Hong Kong” gourmet market is coming up this weekend on May 6 & 7, 2023. To be held at Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza and Sha Tin Park, the outdoor market will be free to enter.
The theme is Chinese cuisines, and there will also be performances and children’s games and playgrounds to make it a family outing. Over 50 food stalls will be serving traditional Chinese dishes for visitors to taste. The final “Happy Hong Kong” gourmet food market will be held on June 3 & 4 at Kwun Tong Promenade.
While a ticket was required to enter the Hong Kong Island gourmet market, tickets will not be required at the New Territories or Kowloon markets.
The first market happened over the final weekend of April at the Exhibition & Covention Centre in Wan Chai. It was well-attended, with more than 100 stalls served hot food and packaged snacks.
Saturday’s Cinema Day and the first gourmet marketplace kicked off the yearlong “Happy Hong Kong” campaign. The programme aimed at stoking the local economy and raising spirits after the prolonged pandemic will see music carnivals, pop culture events, and more occurring into 2024 (see the official events schedule).
