Two Hong Kong restaurants have been included in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2024. The rankings were announced at a ceremony in Las Vegas on Thursday, during which Wing (No. 20) and The Chairman (No. 26) were revealed to be the only restaurants from the SAR to make the list. The top spot went to Disfrutar in Barcelona. Other Asian cities that found places on the list include Bangkok with four restaurants, Tokyo with three, and Seoul and Singapore with one each.

The Chairman, which placed at No. 50 in last year’s rankings, was praised for its fanfare-free food-first approach to classic Cantonese cooking spearheaded by Danny Yip. Wing found a place on the 2023 extended 51-100 list, and was recognised as the Highest New Entry of 2024. The Vicky Cheng-helmed establishment pays tribute to the Eight Great Chinese cuisines by putting a contemporary spin on traditional dishes.

Earlier this year, six Hong Kong restaurants made it to Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2024: The Chairman, Wing, Neighborhood, Mono, Caprice, and Ando. Six more venues from the territory featured on Asia’s 51-100 best restaurant rankings for 2024: Xin Rong Ji, Ta Vie, Vea, Estro, Godenya, and Howard’s Gourmet.
