Tickets for the Coldplay’s Hong Kong concerts went on sale on Monday morning as part of the Artist Pre-Sale, but it seemed many fans of the Brit rock band weren’t lucky enough to get passes. Hongkongers with pre-sale access who logged onto ticketing platform Cityline as soon the sale began at 10am were put in an online queuing system, much to their dismay.
“Ridiculous! I got through at 10:02, and it says can’t select tickets,” said one Hongkonger on a Facebook group, while another added, “I got through twice and it showed tickets available yet wouldn’t let me buy them!! Absolutely shocking ticketing system.” Others voiced confusion about the process. “Been retrying since pre-sale opened, but initially it showed countdown, now it just says retrying. Not sure if this is normal,” said one Coldplay fan. On X (formerly known as Twitter), one user who took a screenshot of the countdown on Cityline website said, “Please add more dates for Hong Kong,” which is not out of the realm of possibility, considering that the band added more shows to their Abu Dhabi and Seoul stops in 2025.
Tickets for the highly anticipated concerts that will take place on April 9, 11, and 12, 2025, at the 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Stadium are being sold in four rounds. They’re priced between HK$399 and HK$6,599, depending on whether they’re standing, seated, or come as part of Enhanced Experiences packages that will give ticket-holders perks such as early entry, special merch, and photo ops on the stage where Coldplay will perform.
However, despite reported issues with the official ticketing website, tickets for the three shows appeared on resale platforms like Viagogo and Carousell — at mind-bogglingly inflated prices. On Viagogo, for instance, single tickets originally priced at HK$699 are going for HK$2,545, while the price of an HK$2,799 Floris Early Entry Experience bundle has jumped to HK$6,487. On Carousell, four HK$1,299 seated tickets are now on sale for a whopping HK$40,000 — almost seven times what they originally cost.
However, three more rounds of sales for the Coldplay concerts will open over the course of this week. Next up is the Klook Experience Package sale on October 8, during which tickets will be clubbed with one- or two-day stays at three-to-five-star hotels in Hong Kong. The Live Nation Members Pre-Sale will take place on October 9, after which general sales will open from October 10.
