Makeup By Mario has officially arrived at Sephora Hong Kong, bringing one of the beauty world’s most talked-about artist-led brands to the city. Founded by Mario Dedivanovic, the makeup artist closely associated with Kim Kardashian, the label grew from more than two decades of professional artistry.
Its Hong Kong debut also offers a closer look at the thinking behind the products. In a Sephora interview, Dedivanovic discussed what shaped his career, changing beauty trends and the techniques he relies on.
From Sephora Makeup Artist To Global Beauty Founder
Dedivanovic’s relationship with Sephora began more than 25 years ago, when he worked in-store and helped a customer find a satin brick-red lipstick. Seeing her reaction became a defining moment in his career. “I remember thinking, this is it. This is exactly what I’m meant to do,” he recalls in the interview.
That philosophy still shapes Makeup By Mario, with a focus on natural-looking skin and softly enhanced features. For first-time users, Dedivanovic recommends the SoftSculpt Shaping Stick for easy definition, as well as the SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer for a natural, bronzed glow.
His Makeup Tips For Hong Kong’s Humid Weather
For Hong Kong’s hot and humid weather, his routine centres on setting makeup in layers. He recommends pressing setting powder into the skin with a puff, rather than sweeping it across the face, before applying SurrealSkin Soft Setting Spray. The aim is to improve hold while keeping the complexion looking fresh instead of heavily powdered.
The technique reflects Dedivanovic’s wider approach to makeup. For higher-coverage looks, he prefers gradually building thin layers of foundation, cream products and powder rather than applying a large amount at once. A setting spray is then used at the end to bring those layers together and maintain a more natural skin texture.
Makeup By Mario is now available online and in-store at Sephora, with the local collection covering foundation, blush, eye and lip makeup, as well as brushes. Shoppers can browse the full range on Sephora Hong Kong’s dedicated Makeup By Mario page, while physical Sephora locations include K11 Art Mall, ifc mall, apm, New Town Plaza, Windsor House and K11 MUSEA, with additional The Edit pop-ups at Metroplaza and YOHO Mall. In-store availability may vary by location.
The launch also comes ahead of another Kim Kardashian-linked arrival in Hong Kong. SKIMS is expected to open its first permanent store in the city at Times Square in Causeway Bay in November 2026.
