The inaugural Art021 Hong Kong will be held in Hong Kong, and bring a new model of art fairs to the city. When the event is held from August 28-September 8, it will mark the first Art021 art fair held outside Mainland China, after the Art021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair, Jingart in Beijing, and the DnA Shenzhen Design and Art Fair. The 11-day festival will span across four different venues in Hong Kong and highlight 73 galleries and projects from 13 countries and regions.
Art021 Hong Kong will feature five main programmes. The main one — the Galleries Section at the Phillips Asia Headquarters in the WKCDA Tower — will put the spotlight on contemporary paintings, ink paintings, sculptures, installations, and digital artworks from 40 galleries. The Asia Society Hong Kong Centre will host the Videos Section that will focus on contemporary visual art by up-and-coming artists to museum-level artworks by established artists.
The Expansion Section at the iconic Fringe Club will feature experimental works, special exhibitions, live performances, and forums, among other events. The other highlight of the fair will be GBA Art Week that aims to connect Galleries, art museums, and institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and will include Hong Kong institutions and galleries like CHAT, Asia Art Archives, and the Hong Kong Arts Centre, and more. There will be one free public art group exhibition — the Sculpture Section — on the central lawn of Victoria Park and the rooftop of the Fringe Club with works by acclaimed artists.
Tickets for the Galleries and Expansion Sections are available on Cityline, and are priced at HK$180 for adults and HK$90 for students (early bird) until August 27, and HK$300 for adults and HK$150 for students respectively for the duration of the fair. Ticketing details for the Videos Section will be announced in the coming weeks.
