Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has revealed new details about two major additions coming exclusively to the Hong Kong park. Announced during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, the plans include a new Avengers attraction and an expansion of Tomorrowland’s Marvel-themed area, as well as an all-new Pixar theatrical production opening in Toy Story Land in the first half of 2027.
New Avengers Attraction To Expand Marvel Area
The biggest announcement concerns Hong Kong Disneyland’s Marvel area, which will be expanded with an all-new Avengers attraction, entertainment and shopping experiences.
At the centre of the expansion will be a new pavilion at Stark Expo, designed to become a new landmark on Tomorrowland’s skyline. Inside, guests will enter the Avengers Research Testing Labs, where Stark Industries and other scientists — including Peter Parker, better known as Spider-Man — are developing new technologies to defend against future threats.
Things do not go entirely according to plan. The technology attracts evil forces, sending guests on an action-packed adventure alongside Spider-Man and other Marvel Super Heroes through Wakanda, Asgard and beyond.
The expansion will also introduce a new Quinjet landing platform, creating more opportunities for guests to encounter Marvel Super Heroes throughout the day. The new area will bring together the attraction, entertainment and shopping within one Marvel-themed destination.
The project forms part of Hong Kong Disneyland’s multi-year expansion, although an opening date for the Avengers attraction has not yet been announced.
New Pixar Show Coming To Toy Story Land In 2027
Toy Story Land is also getting a major addition, with a new theatre being created for an original Pixar-themed spectacular launching in the first half of 2027.
The Hong Kong-exclusive production will introduce Poppy, a new Pixar character created especially for the show. Poppy is a shy plush toy from Hong Kong who moves to Andy’s neighbourhood with her owner, Aria, where Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, Rex and their friends help her adjust to her new surroundings.
The story will take audiences through Pixar worlds including Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Cars, The Incredibles and Inside Out, while exploring themes of friendship, belonging and confidence.
Hong Kong references will also feature throughout the production, including Chinese chess, a traditional rattle drum and egg tarts.
The show will combine live performers, physical sets and digital environments with film-quality visual effects, developed through the first collaboration between Disney Live Entertainment, Pixar Animation Studios and Industrial Light & Magic. Two original songs have also been created for the production, including the pop-inspired anthem “Bloom”.
