There is a new pumpkin in Kai Tak, and this one looks ready to dance. Unveiled on 6 November 2026, Yayoi Kusama’s Dancing Pumpkin stands five metres tall and stretches eight metres across, with eleven curved legs holding up its enormous yellow-and-black body.
You can find it in Kai Tak Station Square, outside SNDO at Tower II of The Twins. Unlike the artist’s more familiar squat pumpkin sculptures, this one seems to move as you walk around the striking installation.
How Dancing Pumpkin Reached Hong Kong
Kusama created Dancing Pumpkin in 2020, and the work made its first appearance at the New York Botanical Garden. It was subsequently shown in Qatar in 2022 and Melbourne in 2024. A version was specially made for Hong Kong, marking the sculpture’s first appearance in Asia.
The pumpkin now belongs to Lifestyle International’s permanent corporate art collection, alongside works by other international artists. However, The Twins has not specified whether it will remain in its current outdoor location permanently. Unlike the accompanying exhibition, the sculpture has no announced closing date.
What Is Inside The Exhibition?
From 8 November, visitors can explore Dancing Pumpkin: Hello Hong Kong! on the ground floor of SNDO. The exhibition follows the artwork’s journey to Kai Tak and features more than two dozen Kusama prints from different stages of her career. Among them are Watermelon (1986), Pumpkin and Fruits (1993) and an earlier print titled Dancing Pumpkin (2004).

There is also a pop-up space with books and objects related to the artist. The exhibition continues until 31 March 2027, giving visitors several months to explore Kusama’s work beyond the outdoor sculpture.
In June, Kai Tak had already welcomed a rare three-metre green Pumpkin at Tower I, as The HK HUB reported when the earlier sculpture arrived. The two pieces now offer different views of a motif Kusama returned to throughout her career.
