Step into Wong Kar Wai’s unique world of romance with rooftop jazz on May 1 and 2. Jazzing Cinema: Chungking Express takes place at K11 MUSEA’s Sculpture Park, with each session running from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Set against the Victoria Harbour skyline, the open-air event is not just a movie screening, but a live jazz reinterpretation inspired by the film’s mood and shaped by movie fragments.
Entry is by standing ticket only, with no assigned seating. Guests are encouraged to wear green or yellow to match the film’s signature palette.
The Urban Romance In Chungking Express
Released in 1994, Chungking Express is one of Wong Kar Wai’s most celebrated works, following two police officers, played by Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Takeshi Kaneshiro, through break-ups and chance encounters in Kowloon.
Its drifting rhythm, pops of colour, and sense of fleeting connection have shaped how Hong Kong is remembered on screen.
Two Nights of Multisensory Live Jazz
Jazzing Cinema is a cinematic-meets-live-jazz series by Hong Kong creative studio Gentle Pause, designed as a film-led, multisensory performance rather than a traditional concert.
Taking place over the Labour Day holiday weekend, this edition is presented with K11 MUSEA as venue partner and features Fountain de Chopin, a Hong Kong jazz collective known for making jazz approachable.
With only two nights and limited capacity, early booking is advised. The first 350 tickets include a themed cocktail.
