The Hung Hom New Waterfront opened on 31 March along the Victoria Harbour shoreline in Kowloon, turning a previously closed-off site into a new public waterfront area.

The space is launching in phases, with a full opening planned later this year. The project forms part of a wider effort to add new visitor spots around the city while longer-term plans are considered for the land.

The location was formerly a railway freight pier used by Kowloon-Canton Railway and later MTR operations, before being earmarked for short-term activation. The Development Bureau awarded a public tender to Bay Area Media Company Limited, under Bauhinia Cultural Group, to operate, manage and programme the site on a short-term lease of about three years.

Over that period, the operator is expected to host public events and activities and gradually introduce more features, spanning arts, technology, culture and leisure. For visitors, the phased approach means the space may change over time, with more areas and facilities opening as works and programming are rolled out. Updates on activities and access arrangements are expected as the venue moves towards full operation later in 2026.
