The Sanrio Character Ranking is an annual fan-voted popularity poll where fans choose their favourite Sanrio characters. The 2026 edition drew 70,647,379 votes worldwide, proving once again just how powerful Sanrio fandom still is. This year, Pompompurin had the sweetest win, ranking No. 1 both globally and in Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, Pompompurin took the top spot in the 2026 ranking, making it an extra special year for the pudding-loving pup as he celebrates his 30th anniversary. Cinnamoroll placed second, while Kuromi completed the top three in third place.
The result marks a change from 2025, when Cinnamoroll was crowned Hong Kong’s favourite Sanrio character, Kuromi held second place, and Hello Kitty entered the local top three for the first time in third.
Globally, Pompompurin also ranked No. 1 with 7,135,114 votes, ahead of Cinnamoroll in second place with 6,313,623 votes and Pochacco in third with 3,967,689 votes.
The rest of the global top 10 featured more familiar fan favourites: Kuromi ranked fourth, Hello Kitty fifth, Ahirunopekkle sixth, My Melody seventh, Tuxedosam eighth, Hangyodon ninth and Little Twin Stars tenth.
