Have you ever imagined yourself facing Young-Hee the doll, playing rounds of thrilling games, and making it all the way to the end to become the Squid Game winner? Now you have the opportunity to prove your survival skills at the new ‘Squid Game: The Experience’, opening in Seoul’s Seongsu district on February 28. Fans of the streaming hit can participate in challenges made famous by the show, and of course, the last one standing will emerge the winner.
Seoul joins the Squid Game
After opening in New York in October last year, ‘Squid Game: The Experience’ has taken over Madrid and Sydney, and now will dare participants in Seoul to face the obstacles depicted in the series in real life. After registering by facial scanner, players will enjoy approximately two hours of fun by going through different areas where they can play games, enjoy Korean snacks, and buy Squid Game goodies.Â
The Game Zone will get participants to turn against each other while trying to navigate six different games — including Red Light, Green Light, Marbles, and Treasure Hunt — in around 90 minutes. Only the winner will have access to VIP exclusive privileges. But whether or not you ‘survive’ the adventure, you can head to the Retail Zone to pick up merchandise featured in the Netflix series. Hungry after the thrilling trials? Enjoy Korean-style snacks and drinks and play mini-games at the Night Market while you can take some photos against Squid Game iconic backdrops.
Who can participate in the experience?
If you’re under seven, sorry but the games aren’t you. Everybody over this age is welcome, but older kids and teens under 14 years old need to be accompanied by an adult. The experience will open on February 28 and will run until June 25, 2025 every day of the week with no closure. It’s open from 10am-10pm from Monday-Thursday and Sunday, and until midnight on Fridays, Saturdays, and public holidays. Tickets are already available for sale at a price tag of ₩55,000 (around HK$295) for a regular single entry. VIP tickets and packages are also available for sale.
If you can’t make it all the way to Seoul, try playing a virtual reality version of Squid Game in Hong Kong. The immersive set of games, which can accommodate up to six players at a time, features challenges made famous by the show as well as new ones devised especially for the VR version.Â
