Football legends Michael Owen and Paul Scholes will lead two teams in an exhibition match that will take place as part of the World Football Masters Cup 2024 in Hong Kong. The match will take place at the Hong Kong Stadium on January 20, and the teams will feature a mix of international stars and Hong Kong players for the first time.
Both teams have a total of 23 players each. The Owen All Stars team will include Spanish footballer Luis García and former England player and coach Robbie Fowler, alongside Hong Kong players like Lee Kin-wo and Lau Wing-yip. The Scholes Legends side will feature Portuguese star Luís Figo and French footballer Robert Pires, as well as local players such as Yan Lin Kin and former Hong Kong captain Leung Sui Wing.
Tickets for the match are priced at HK$280, HK$480, $680 and $980, and are available on Cityline. The match kicks off at 4pm, and will have three 30-minute sessions.
The news of the World Football Masters Cup 2024 comes shortly after it was announced that Lionel Messi will play in Hong Kong as part of a friendly match between Inter Miami and the local team on February 4, along with Spanish stars Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
