Henry Cavill was spotted on Peel Street in Central on Thursday night as filming for the new Highlander movie took place in Hong Kong. The street was turned into a detailed film set, with bright neon signs, red-lit shopfronts, hawker-style stalls and a temple entrance.
Crew, cameras and extras filled the narrow lane, while Cavill appeared in a dark coat. The Hong Kong scenes form part of the international shoot for Chad Stahelski’s reboot of the 1986 fantasy action film.
Cavill plays Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman originally played by Christopher Lambert in the 1986 film. Russell Crowe plays his mentor Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, while Dave Bautista plays the Kurgan.
Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Marisa Abela, Jeremy Irons and Hong Kong action star Max Zhang are also part of the cast.
The film is directed by Chad Stahelski, who directed all four John Wick movies. Filming began in Scotland and London earlier this year, following delays after Cavill suffered an injury during preparation for the film. Poland and Hong Kong were also confirmed as filming locations.
The Hong Kong shoot also follows another major action production in the city this summer. In July, Donnie Yen was spotted filming John Wick spin-off CAINE across Hong Kong, including scenes in Tai O, at the Big Buddha and Tsing Shan Monastery, as well as in Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei.
No official release date has been announced for Highlander.
