Hilary Chong took home the Miss Hong Kong 2023 crown, in a ceremony broadcast on TVB on Sunday night. Chong, who was a competition favourite, has set her sights on a television career, according to local media reports.

The first runner-up position went to Lynn Wang, who was also declared Miss Photogenic. Lovelle Wang was declared the second runner-up.

The 17 contestants who made it to the final had to go through several rounds before making it to the Top 5. During the first round, they were pitted against an AI version of a beauty queen named Evelyn.

This was not the only time the Miss Hong Kong 2023 hopefuls had an encounter with AI during the course of the evening. They also participated in a segment called ‘Talk To Your Future Self’, during which they had to converse with AI-generated versions of themselves in the future.

In addition, there was swimsuit Q&A competition, as well as a segment in which they appeared in traditional cheongsam dresses. The contestants also danced to a song performed by singer Mike Tsang.
