The 2024 Hong Kong Lotus Festival will be held at the Po Lin Monastery until July 4, during which visitors can view more than 400 lotus varieties and over 6,000 potted water lilies and lotuses placed from the monastery to The Big Buddha and Di Tan Square for free. In addition, there will be a range of lotus-themed events, such as a photography competition, calligraphy workshops, and a floral art exhibition.
This is the second time the festival is being held, and this year’s edition will have new events, such as a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and demonstrations on how to take pictures of lotus flowers with a mobile phone. There will also be events that focus on health and well-being, such as the ‘Step by Step Lotus Health and Happiness Walk’ and the ‘Lotus Five Senses Healing Exhibition’.
Other lotus-themed activities that will be part of the festival include a photography competition, lotus calligraphy and handmade incense workshops, a floral art exhibition, a Chinese guzheng music performance, ikebana art and hands-on pottery classes, lectures, and more. These events are free, but some workshops and lectures require online registration.
