The Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (CPO) announced today (September 2) during a press conference that Hong Kong’s National Day Fireworks Display will return to Victoria Harbour on October 1.
The 23-minute show will feature 31,888 firework shells launched from nine points across the harbour, with eight themed segments planned for this year’s celebration.
Themed “Eternal Radiance Fireworks In Bloom, Illuminating Our Country”, this year’s display features 8 segments designed around optimism, ambition and togetherness, with 3 highlighted sequences:
The second segment will introduce layered rings of gold and red across Victoria Harbour for the first time, symbolising warmth, hope and confidence.
Later, the fourth segment shifts the mood towards space, using colourful transforming spheres and shooting-star effects to create a sweeping cosmic scene inspired by dreaming big and pushing beyond limits.
The fifth segment takes a softer turn, filling the sky with red heart-shaped and yellow star-shaped fireworks as a celebration of love and good wishes for family, friends and the wider community.
Altogether, 31,888 shells will be fired during the 23-minute show. The event has an overall budget of around HK$18 million and is sponsored by Sun Life Hong Kong.
For the clearest views, Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, the Mid-Levels and Hung Hom Bypass are among the most popular viewing spots, but waterfront areas can get crowded well before 8pm.
