Mamma Mia! will be staged in Hong Kong for the first time in five years when the hit musical comes to the city this summer. The original English musical will be staged from July 26-28, July 30-August 4, August 6-11, and August 13-15, 2024. There will be a total of 24 showings at the Lyric Theatre of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
The musical, which is based on the songs of Swedish group ABBA, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It tells the story of how the lead character, Sophie, embarks on a quest to discover the true identity of her father on the eve of her wedding. She then invites three men from her mother’s romantic past back to the Greek island they last visited 20 years ago — leading to drama and surprises, all set to popular classics such as Dancing Queen, Super Trouper, and Money, Money, Money.
Tickets are priced at HK$680, HK$980, HK$1,080, and HK$1,280, and are available on Cityline. Priority sales for BOC credit card holders are open until March 25, and the general public sale will begin on March 26.
