From 17 to 27 September, Victoria Park’s soccer pitches will become a glowing Mid-Autumn setting each evening.
This year’s programme brings together food-shaped lanterns, floral installations, pandas, horses and displays inspired by traditional paper crafting.
Entry is free, making the carnival an easy evening stop in Causeway Bay area.
Six Lantern Areas Will Illuminate Victoria Park
The lantern route spreads beyond the soccer pitches into several corners of Victoria Park. A giant glowing moon surrounded by lotus lanterns will appear by the Model Boat Pool, while illuminated lotus and fish installations will add colour to nearby plazas and paths.
The World Lantern Boulevard will transform the walking trail near the Model Boat Pool into a corridor filled with lantern designs representing different countries and regions.
At Hill Knoll Pavilion, the Hong Kong Lantern Galleria will focus on local lantern craft. Other displays will feature familiar Hong Kong food, including egg waffles, milk tea, curry fishballs, egg tarts, wonton noodles and dim sum.
Floral installations, pandas and horses will also appear across the carnival. Traditional paper-crafting techniques will form another part of the programme, bringing local craftsmanship into the illuminated displays.
Fire Dragon Dance, Creative Market And Special Nights Return
The programme goes beyond the lantern installations. A Mid-Autumn Creative Market will open from 6:30pm to 11pm, while Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance events are scheduled from 24 to 26 September.
On 25 September, Gala Night will run from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. A Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance will then take place at Victoria Park from 10:30pm to 11:30pm, after an earlier live broadcast. Youth Night follows on 26 September from 7:30pm to 10pm.
The display covers Victoria Park’s Soccer Pitches No. 1 to 6 and surrounding areas. Visitors can enter free of charge throughout the festival.
Those hoping for a quieter lantern walk are encouraged to visit outside Mid-Autumn Day, when larger crowds are expected.
