WestK FunFest returns for its second edition from March 21-April 27, 2025, offering six weeks of family-friendly artistic experiences at West Kowloon Cultural District. As a major part of Hong Kong Art March 2025, the festival will feature nearly 100 interactive performances, large-scale outdoor installations, theatre experiences, free workshops, and creative activities.
Bringing together renowned artists and arts groups from Hong Kong and around the world, the event promises an exciting mix of entertainment and cultural enrichment for visitors of all ages, especially families during the Easter holidays.
What to See and Experience
Among the festival’s highlights is the world debut of Pollinator, an innovative large-scale outdoor installation by American artists Alex Schweder and Ward Shelley, running from March 21-April 21 at Harbourside East Lawn.
This performance architecture piece will see 18 local artists inhabit interconnected pods, hosting live performances and interactive sessions for visitors. Another major attraction is La bulle (The Bubble), an award-winning mime performance by Canadian dance theatre company CORPUS, staged within a transparent bubble tent at Harbourside West Lawn from April 11-13 and April 18-21.
Meanwhile, the Australian circus company Circa will present Carnival of the Animals at the Xiqu Centre’s Grand Theatre from April 18-21, blending acrobatics and digital animation in a visually stunning reinterpretation of the classic composition by Saint-Saëns.
Additionally, the UK’s Fevered Sleep will premiere Time Keeps The Drummer, an immersive child-led performance at Freespace from April 18-27, featuring untrained young performers exploring the nature of time through movement and play.
Free Activities and Market Experience
Beyond ticketed performances, FunFest will offer close to 50 free activities, ensuring broad accessibility.
Families can enjoy Wonderbox, a sensory theatre production designed for children with disabilities, as well as Murmur, an acrobatic sound theatre piece blending movement and immersive audio.
The FunFest Market will debut at the Art Park, running every Friday to Sunday from March 21, offering a vibrant selection of artisanal goods and food stalls. Additionally, pop-up performances, Cantonese opera workshops, and site-specific theatre experiences will animate the district throughout the festival period.
With a mix of world-class performances, interactive installations, and hands-on workshops, WestK FunFest 2025 promises an engaging and inclusive celebration of arts and culture in the heart of Hong Kong. Tickets are priced from HK$160 onwards for specific shows and are available on the event website.
