Award-winning band Coldplay is rumoured to come to Hong Kong in 2025, and will play at the soon-to-open Kai Tak Stadium. The acclaimed rock outfit, which is currently on its Music of the Spheres World Tour, left the SAR off its Asia stops in 2023 and 2024, much to the disappointment of fans.

According to a report in the South China Morning Post, ticket sales for the concert will open in early 2025, but the dates for the shows have not yet been revealed. The last time the British quartet played in the SAR was in 2009 as part of their Viva La Vida Tour. At that time, they played at the AsiaWorld-Arena, which is the biggest venue for international performers in the city and can accommodate up to 14,000 concert-goers. So far, the last dates for Coldplay’s current tour are November 13-16, 2024, when the band will play at Auckland.

While Hong Kong will be ground zero for shows by biggies like Olivia Rodrigo, John Legend and Imagine Dragons, music fans have been disappointed when artists like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa skipped the city during their most recent world tours. However, Kai Tak Stadium, which is scheduled to host the Hong Kong Sevens and National Games next year, is touted to be the go-to venue for mega events in the city after it opens.
