Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has secured the 6th spot in the World’s Top 100 Airports 2025 ranking from Skytrax, rising from 11th place in 2024. HKIA has also been named the best airport in the world for immigration.

Hong Kong Airport Now Ranked 6th in the World

Hong Kong International Airport has moved up five places in this year’s World Airport Awards and now ranks as the 6th best airport in the world, a strong jump from 11th last year.

The World Airport Awards are based on a large global survey, where passengers from more than 100 countries gave feedback, and they shared their experiences between August 2024 and February 2025. The rankings look at areas like check-in, cleanliness, shopping, staff, and how easy it is to get through immigration and security.

Hong Kong’s higher ranking comes as travel picks up again after the pandemic. Earlier this year, the airport handled over 5 million passengers, matching numbers from before COVID-19. HKIA has also benn named one of the world’s 10 busiest airports again, after increasing seat capacity by 40% since 2023.

The Hong Kong airport is also known for being clean. In 2024, it was ranked the 8th cleanest airport in the world, behind airports in Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Later this year, the government will increase the departure tax for travellers. From October 1, passengers will pay HK$200 instead of HK$120, the first change in over 20 years.

Asian Airports Lead the Top 10 in 2025

Airports in Asia take six of the top ten spots in this year’s list. Singapore Changi is now No. 1, moving up from second place in 2024. Doha’s Hamad International, which held the top spot last year, is now second.
