Hong Kong Disneyland will have a new Marvel-themed attraction at Tomorrowland that will feature fan favourite superhero Spider-Man. The announcement was made at the recent D23 Disney fan event in Anaheim, California to reveal plans for the Disney park’s multi-year expansion. The expanded area will include new pavilions at the Stark Expo, where Spider-Man will introduce the “latest breakthrough” from the Avengers’ most recent inventions and tech, and face off against a formidable villain.
While the identity of the villain Spidey will battle has not yet revealed, concept art shows that it will be Doctor Octopus, aka Doc Ock, who first appeared on film in 2004’s Spider-Man 2 and more recently in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. The forthcoming attraction will have all-new entertainment, shopping, and dining offerings.
The current Marvel attractions at Hong Kong Disneyland — the Iron Man Experience and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! — are exclusive to the SAR. The park occasionally has Marvel-themed events, like drone shows, an annual Marvel Super Heroes summer showcase, and the Avengers Deployment Vehicle. Dates for the opening of the new Marvel offering have not yet been revealed.
In November 2023, the park unveiled World of Frozen — the world’s first official Disney zone dedicated to Elsa, Anna and other characters from Arendelle. Highlights are Frozen Ever After and Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs, which use cutting-edge technology to bring the kingdom of Arendelle to life.
