The Mui Wo Mountain Bike Practice Ground, which is the first of its kind in Hong Kong, opened on December 17. It is located in Lantau South Country Park and, along with other associated trails, is the only venue that includes all five mountain bike difficulty levels.

The practice ground spans 4.5 hectares and has nine kilometres of new mountain bike trails that connect Mui Wo Ferry Pier Road in the east to the road leading to Lai Chi Yuen Cemetery in the west. There are undulating trails for beginners and narrow trails that allow only one bike to go through at a time when bikers become more skilled.

The facilities were designed and constructed in compliance with sustainable trail standards of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). The features include mountain bike trails, technical features such as jumps and a rock garden, a tot track, pump track and supporting facilities such as toilets, first-aid kiosks, shelter and water-filling stations.
