Cathay Pacific will begin its ticket giveaway for travellers from the US and Canada on May 17. The airline will give away a total of 4,445 economy round-trip tickets to passengers from Boston, New York (JFK), San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Vancouver on a first-come-first-served basis until May 23 as part of the Hello Hong Kong campaign to attract visitors to the city. There are 2,890 tickets for US passengers and 1,555 tickets for travellers from Canada up for grabs.
How to get the tickets?
To be eligible for the tickets, passengers should first register as Cathay Pacific Asia Miles members before May 17. US passengers will then receive an access link via email from Cathay from 5pm PST/8pm EST onwards on May 17, while Canada travellers will receive their links from 6pm EST/9pm EST, which they can use to avail their tickets. While successful participants do not have to pay the airfare on their tickets, bookings are only guaranteed once passengers pay the relevant taxes, fees, and surcharges.
How long are the tickets valid for?
Customers must use the access link from the airline before ticket sales close on May 23 or until tickets are sold out. Once purchased, the tickets must be used for a trip within nine months, for a stay period that lasts between two days and one month.
Several giveaway campaigns for free or discounted tickets for travellers to Hong Kong from different countries began from March 1, courtesy the Hello Hong Kong and World of Winners initiatives. Tickets to travellers from Southeast Asia, Mainland China, the UK, Europe, and South Korea have already been distributed. Cathay Pacific is expected to announce gifted tickets from Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, India, Nepal and Bangladesh to Hong Kong later this month.
