Big things are on the horizon for Hong Kong Disneyland, with fresh experiences, fan-favourite characters, and year-long festivities set to make the entertainment destination more magical than ever. Officials have revealed that the park will open a new Pixar zone, and where its planned Marvel-themed attraction in Tomorrowland will be. They also announced that the park’s year-long 20th anniversary celebrations will kick off in June and feature beloved characters from Encanto as part of its first-ever Friendtastic parade.
New Pixar and Marvel Zone Details
Michael Moriarty, managing director, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, announced these developments when he unveiled the park’s business results for 2024. He also revealed that the planned Pixar entertainment experience — the only one of its kind in the world — will be located between Toy Story Land and the recently-launched World of Frozen. However, he did not say what attractions visitors can expect at the new zone and when they will likely open.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Spider-Man attraction at Tomorrowland will be located between the Space Traders and Expo Shop merch stores. The enhanced area will feature new pavilions at the Stark Expo, where Spider-Man will unveil the latest innovation from the Avengers’ latest advancements and gadgets, and go head-to-head with a powerful but as-yet-unnamed villain.
Encanto Cast Joins Disneyland’s Friendtastic Parade
After confirming that Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20 anniversary celebrations will begin this June, Moriarty also said that La Familia Madrigal will make their first appearance at the park as part of the Friendtastic parade. The Encanto characters will have their own float that will see sisters Mirabel, Luisa, Isabela, and other members of the family frolicking at Casita — the house central to the film.
Mickey and Minnie will be front and centre of the parade and will wear outfits especially for the event. Visitors can also take their pick from a wide array of 20th anniversary-themed food and drink, as well as merch like plush toys of Minnie, Mickey, and the gang.
