The Weeknd has officially released his new single “Hong Kong (feat. 王菲季候風)” on 31 October 2026, bringing the song he first performed during his Hong Kong concerts to streaming platforms.
The track has already reached No. 1 on Apple Music’s Hong Kong chart as of 2 November, just two days after its release. It has also entered Spotify’s Hong Kong Top 50 at No. 34, with 8,961 daily streams recorded. The release has renewed interest in Faye Wong’s original song, which is also climbing the local charts.
From Kai Tak Stadium To No. 1 On Apple Music
The Weeknd first surprised fans with “Hong Kong” on 24 October, during the opening night of his four concerts at Kai Tak Stadium. The performance featured footage of Victoria Harbour, red taxis, Mong Kok and other familiar scenes across the city.
The following day, he shared a video of the performance on Instagram, bringing the song to a wider audience before its official release.
As The HK HUB previously reported, the track incorporates Faye Wong’s 1993 Cantonese song “季候風” (Monsoon), combining her original vocals with The Weeknd’s English verses.
The song tells the story of a romance that ends in separation, with Hong Kong becoming the place where the singer hopes the two might meet again.
The official release arrived on 31 October, coinciding with the final night of his Hong Kong concerts. Its early chart performance has been particularly strong. By 2 November, the new single was sitting at the top of Apple Music Hong Kong, while Faye Wong’s original recording had reached No. 3 on the same chart.
On Spotify Hong Kong, “Hong Kong” had entered the daily Top 50 at No. 34, giving the new release a place on both major streaming charts.
A Tribute Connecting Cantopop And Hong Kong Cinema
The collaboration also reflects The Weeknd’s interest in Hong Kong music and cinema.
Before arriving in the city, he had shared Faye Wong’s 1996 album Fuzao on social media. During his visit, he also attended a Cartier dinner with Tony Leung and Carina Lau, later posting a photograph accompanied by Wong’s song “Dream Lover”.
The single’s artwork extends this connection to Hong Kong cinema. It features a photograph from the personal collection of cinematographer Christopher Doyle, who worked on Wong Kar-wai’s 1994 film Chungking Express, starring Faye Wong and Tony Leung.
The release follows The Weeknd’s four-show Hong Kong run at Kai Tak Stadium on 24, 25, 30 and 31 October, part of his After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour.
“Hong Kong (feat. 王菲季候風)” is now available on Spotify and Apple Music Hong Kong. The latest positions can be followed on the Apple Music Hong Kong chart and Spotify’s Hong Kong Top 50.
