FUGGLER, the UK-born “funny ugly monster” plush toy brand, has opened its first Hong Kong flagship store at Hysan Place in Causeway Bay, bringing its oddball toy universe to the city from April 25.

Known for their human-like teeth, mismatched eyes and mischievous expressions, FUGGLER toys sit somewhere between cute, chaotic and slightly disturbing. The brand began in the UK in 2010, when artist Louise McGettrick created an unusual plush prototype using fake human teeth. Since then, the “ugly-cute” characters have grown into a global collectible toy IP, with more than 150 characters and collaborations with franchises such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Powerpuff Girls and DC.

The new Hong Kong store introduces several collections to local fans, including the FUGG NUGGETS Series Blind Box, where the creatures appear as crispy chicken nugget-style characters. The ALLEY CATS Series Blind Box gives the monsters a feline twist, while the CHUNKY FUGGS Series Blind Box features rounder characters dressed as animals such as axolotls, hippos, frogs, capybaras and yetis.

Beyond the products, the store leans into FUGGLER’s “quirky aesthetic”, turning imperfection and weirdness into the main attraction. For collectors, toy fans and anyone tired of overly polished cute characters, this new Causeway Bay shop adds something strange, playful and very different to Hong Kong’s retail scene.
