Hong Kong now has a new way for owners to sightsee with their pets, as Citybus is now running HK City Sightseeing Pet Open-top Bus Tours from April onwards, after a trial run earlier this year with local pet platform PET-A-HOOD.
The tours let pets ride with their owners on the upper deck, with sea views and city landmarks along the route. Services are timed as leisure trips rather than point-to-point transport, and are aimed at weekend plans for families each weekend.
Citybus said the regular service offers both day and night sightseeing options. The route includes Kai Tak, Fat Kwong Street Flyover, the Cross Harbour Tunnel, the Island Eastern Corridor, Monster Building and Soho East. Earlier departures included a Night Tour loop that started and ended at Belcher Bay Park, calling at Man Mo Temple, PMQ, Tai Kwun and the Hong Kong Observation Wheel.
During the February pilot, the bus also travelled via the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link and along harbour corridors, giving pets and owners open-air views from the upper deck. Citybus positioned the tours as a shared local experience for pet-loving families, designed for leisure rather than commuting.
Tickets are sold through PET-A-HOOD, while City Tours Limited acts as the service provider and supplies the bus, with responsibility for bus operation safety and basic on-board facilities. Citybus added that private pet open-top tours, plus pet transport and transfer services, can be arranged through its private hire service.
Anyone planning to join should check the booking page at www.petahood.com for the latest dates, available timeslots and prices, as schedules are released in batches and can sell out quickly.
