ATP stars are lining up to return to Hong Kong for the first ATP Tour event after a 21-year hiatus. World No.5 Andrey Rublev, World No.15 Karen Khachanov, World No.16 Frances Tiafoe and 2014 US Open Singles Champion Marin Cilic are amongst the premier ATP Tour professionals set to entertain fans at the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open 2024 (BOCHKTO 2024).

These powerhouses join previously announced players — hometown hero Coleman Wong, rising mainland star Shang Juncheng, and World Top 50 ranked player Mackenzie McDonald — as ATP Tour tennis returns to Hong Kong bigger and better than ever from 31 December 2023 to 7 January 2024 at Victoria Park Tennis Stadium.

With BOCHKTO 2024 enjoying pride of place as one of the events in the opening week of the global ATP 2024 Season, more players will be announced in the coming days as some of the game’s top stars prepare for the first Grand Slam of the season at the Australian Open beginning a fortnight after Hong Kong.

Today’s announcement sees some leading lights of global tennis lining up to welcome the return of ATP Tour excitement to Hong Kong. Several of the players confirmed today are Grand Slam or ATP Masters 1000 winners or have already been ranked inside the world’s top 10 in their illustrious careers, including Andrey Rublev, who enters BOCHKTO 2024 as the highest ranked player in the tournament at fifth in the world currently.

Rublev has won an impressive 14 ATP Tour singles titles and claimed his first ATP Masters 1000 singles victory at the Monte Carlo Masters in 2023. He has appeared in eight Grand Slam quarter-finals since 2020, and reached the last eight this year at the Australian Open, the US Open, and for the first time ever at Wimbledon, before losing to Novak Djokovic. He also won the Swedish Open in 2023, defeating Casper Ruud in the final. The 26 year-old also reached his second Masters 1000 singles final of the year in Shanghai, losing to No.16 seed Hubert Hurkacz and advanced to finals in Dubai, Halle, and Banja Luka.

BOCHKTO 2024 also welcomes world No. 15 Karen Khachanov, who has won five ATP Tour singles titles, including a Masters 1000 crown in Paris in 2018; Frances Tiafoe, who cracked the world’s top ten earlier this year after winning the third ATP singles title of his career in June; and Marin Cilic, who has won 20 ATP Tour singles titles, including a major at the 2014 US Open.

In keeping with HKCTA’s mission to connect the entire community, the BOCHKTO 2024 Tournament Village will offer fun activities for everyone, and is free to enter throughout the tournament. With a giant screen broadcasting the live centre court action, prizes and giveaways, tennis themed games and activities, a mini-tennis court, shopping and more, the village is the place to be for tennis fans and the general public alike, and a great spot to ring in 2024 with a ball.

Throughout the tournament, fans can enjoy photo ops and interactive tennis games at BOCHK’s booth in the village. ATP star players will also visit the booth during the week to meet and sign autographs for fans, allowing the public to cheer on the stars in person.

With local star Coleman Wong already announced in the field, the village will also serve as a rallying point for fans to cheer on their hometown heroes in the Hong Kong Booth. The booth also features Hong Kong themed souvenirs and merchandise, and even art exhibits sharing the unique and vibrant culture of the city with residents and tourists from around the world.

Tickets for BOCHKTO 2024, starting from HK$240, can be purchased online. More information can be found at the Tournament’s official website.
