Hong Kong International Airport is paying homage to the hit film Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In by exhibiting replicas of sets from the movie in the terminal. The film transports viewers to the now-demolished Kowloon Walled City and shows how its residents lived in the 1980s. Since its release on May 1 this year, the movie has become the most-watched Hong Kong film in cinemas and is the territory’s official entry to the Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

The Kowloon Walled City exhibition is in a two-storey structure that features a neon sign, tea stall, and home appliance store.

As part of the exhibition — which is at the T1 Arrival Hall A until November 20, 2024 — visitors will be greeted by a neon ‘Kowloon Walled City’ sign on the roof of the double-storey installation before they enter 6 zones that are callbacks to key scenes in the film. Fans of the movie will recognise the Barber Shop, which is one of the major sets, and the Tea Stall that served as a key meeting point for characters in the film. Other replicas include the Plastic Flower Workshop, Home Appliance Stores, Attic, and winding Back Alley — all of which will take visitors back in time to experience what it was like in what was once the world’s most densely populated place in the world.
