What is the Hong Kong Sevens?

The Hong Kong Sevens is a rugby sevens tournament in which teams made up of 7 players play 7-minute halves as part of the SVNS Rugby Circuit. Other cities that will host the event this year include Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, and Vancouver. The host city of the Grand Final has not yet been announced.

When is the 2025 Hong Kong Sevens?

The three-day tourney is usually held on a weekend in late March or early April, and the next edition will take place on March 28-30, 2025 in Hong Kong. The first round of the Sevens will take place in Dubai (November 30-December 1, 2024), followed by Cape Town (December 7-8, 2024), Perth (January 24-26, 2025), and Vancouver (February 21-23, 2025).

Where is the Hong Kong Sevens being held?

After being held at the Hong Kong Stadium for more than 40 years, the forthcoming edition of the tournament will move to the Kai Tak Sports Park Main Stadium, which will be completed in late 2024. This will be the first major event at the 50,000-capacity venue, which will also host the highly anticipated Hong Kong Coldplay concerts in April 2025. The stadium is reportedly one of the few venues in the world designed specifically for rugby, and is equipped with a retractable roof and bowl cooling system.

The stadium will be ground zero for happening post-match parties as it will have 8 concept restaurants, more than 30 dining facilities, and is within walking distance of 70 restaurants.

Which teams will play at the Hong Kong Sevens?

Over the course of the three-day tournament, the best 12 men’s and women’s teams from New Zealand, Argentina, Australia, France, USA, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, South Africa, Great Britain, Japan, Brazil, Spain, Uruguay, China, and Kenya will face off in 72 matches.
