Hong Kong’s humidity levels hit 100% on Tuesday and Wednesday, with reports of damp ceilings and slippery floors in buildings across the city, according to media reports. The Hong Kong Observatory attributed the extreme humidity to the “influence of a southerly airstream”.
The weather is expected to be cloudy, humid, and warm on Wednesday, with occasional periods of sunshine and a maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. The mercury is forecast to fall over the next few days, with temperatures ranging between 16 degrees and 21 degrees in the next week. However, relative humidity levels will still be at a maximum of around 95% on most days.
Visibility fell below 100 metres at Waglan Island on Wednesday morning due to the extreme humidity, and the Marine Department issued a low-visibility warning. While it will be windy and cool in the next few days, an upper-air disturbance will bring unsettled weather to the region next week.
