Hongkongers can watch a series of dance, music, and Chinese opera shows for free as part of the Performing Arts Carnival 2023, which will take place from October to December. The first two carnivals will be held at the Tuen Mun and Sha Tin town halls on October 15 and 22, between 2pm and 5pm.

Some of the non-ticketed shows that will take place as part of the event include Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts showings of the original musical Home Sweet Home, the Chinese opera Sea of Sin, a brass ensemble concert, and Under the Umbrella from the Chinese opera The Moon Pavilion.

The carnival will also showcase fringe activities, such as Cantonese opera, musical and dance performances, as well as workshops. There will also be a Cantonese opera appreciation activity, an interactive theatre experience, and a series of flow arts workshops.

Admission is on a first-come-first-served basis, while tickets for the fringe activities will be available at the venue on event day from 12pm onwards. The drama, music, dance and Chinese opera shows will be staged at the auditoriums of each venue, while the fringe activities will be held at their respective Cultural Activities halls.

Check the websites of the Tuen Mun Town Hall and Sha Tin Town Hall for details about the performances.
