All Hong Kong residents and tourists can get free ferry rides on July 1 on two Hong Kong Water Taxi trips: Central-Hung Hom and the Tsim Sha Tsui-Wan Chai-Central-West Kowloon circular route. The fare-free rides are on offer to mark the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day.

In addition, any resident of the SAR or visitor to the city whose birthday falls on July 1 will get free rides on the following Oriental Pearl, Fortune Ferry, and Hong Kong Water Taxi rides and cruises:

  • Happy Hour Cruise
  • Symphony of Lights Cruise
  • Dazzling Night Cruise
  • North Point-Kwun Tong-Kai Tak route
  • Tuen Mun-Tung Chung-Sha Lo Wan-Tai O route

All passengers who wish to claim a free birthday trip or ride should have valid ID with their date of birth. Other passengers have to pay the full fare on these trips.

In April, it was revealed that Fortune Ferry, which owns Water Taxi, was among three Hong Kong ferry operators that applied for a fare increase. They proposed that tickets on its North Point-Kwun Tong-Kai Tak route should go up by 28.6%, and that fares on the Central-Hung Hom trip should increase by 22.2%.
