Five Hong Kong restaurants made it to the 2023 edition of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, which was unveiled on Tuesday evening at a ceremony in Singapore. Bangkok and Singapore had the most restaurants on the list (9), followed by Tokyo (7). The Chairman, which placed at No. 13, was the highest-ranking Hong Kong establishment, while the remaining four SAR restaurants were also included in last year’s Top 50 list.

Eight Hong Kong restaurants were also named in the 2023 Asia’s 51-100 Best Restaurants rankings, which was announced earlier this month, giving the SAR a total of 13 restaurants in the Top 100 this year.

Last year, six restaurants from Hong Kong made it to the Top 50. This time, 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana, which took the No. 48 spot in 2022, was included in the 2023 edition of the 51-100 Best Restaurants rankings. The Chairman also made it to the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2022 by placing No. 24, while Neighborhood (No. 76), and Wing (No. 100) made it to the Top 100 list.

The rankings are decided by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, which comprises more than 300 members, each selected for their knowledge of the Asian restaurant scene. This year, voters could nominate eight restaurants, including up to six from their home country or territory, but with no obligation to vote for restaurants outside their home country/SAR.
