A new Yayoi Kusama Pumpkin has landed in Kai Tak, and it is being billed as Hong Kong’s first permanent outdoor public Pumpkin piece by the legendary Japanese contemporary artist.
The three-metre, emerald-green sculpture is now installed at The Twins Tower I, with free public viewing from now onwards.
Yayoi Kusama’s Pumpkin in a Rare Green Edition

Few living artists are as instantly recognisable as Yayoi Kusama, whose work spans painting, sculpture, performance and large-scale installations. Her Pumpkin motif is one of her most enduring symbols, rooted in childhood memories and often linked to ideas of comfort, resilience and healing.
At The Twins, the sculpture stands three metres tall and is finished in emerald green, wrapped in her signature black polka dots.
While yellow and red are Kusama’s most common and widely produced pumpkin colours, the green version is considered rare. Organisers say only two green pumpkins exist worldwide, with the other belonging to the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, where it appears only intermittently in rotating displays and often in more private settings.
That makes the Kai Tak installation an added bonus for art fans, as it sits out in the open and is free for the public to visit.
Where To Find The Green Pumpkin

The Pumpkin has found its permanent home in the open area at The Twins Tower I in Kai Tak. It is about a two-minute walk from Exit B of Kai Tak MTR Station, towards SOGO.
The Twins says this is the first of several public artworks planned for later in 2026, including additional Kusama pieces, as well as Antony Gormley’s BIG SPLICE and Izumi Ando’s A Tree & A Pair Of Horses.
