As of June this year, Hong Kong residents and non-residents may enter Hong Kong and undergo a shortened 7-day hotel quarantine. This is exciting news because it’s the shortest government-mandated quarantine period since the pandemic began early 2020. The additional measure the government is implementing, on top of full vaccination documentation and a negative test upon arrival, is proof of a positive serology test showing a high Covid-19 antibody count.
What is a serology test?
A serology test, obtained from a blood sample, shows antibodies your immune system has produced in response to previous infection or inoculation against a disease, and in this case, the SARS-CoV-2.
If you’re considering travelling from Hong Kong and want to take advantage of the one week quarantine upon return, you need to visit an approved lab to get a serology test.
Keep in mind that the results are valid for 3 months, after which you must attain another test result.
